Robert Bastress Named in Forbes Best-in-State Lawyers List for 2025

Published on Jul 15, 2025 at 3:37 pm in News.

How do you find the right lawyer for you? That was the question posed by Forbes Magazine as they put together the inaugural list of America’s Best-In-State Lawyers. Forbes examined the attorneys through a rigorous and multi-stage research process that led to evaluating thousands of candidates.

The team at DiPiero Simmons McGinley & Bastress is proud to announce that one of our dedicated partners, Robert Bastress, was recognized by Forbes as a representative of exceptional legal counsel.

The editors at Forbes cited the formula lawyers apply for building a strong practice: “Build trust with clients. Prove reliability with colleagues. Gain respect and credibility from arbiters. Keep learning. Do great work.”

Robert Bastress embraces and excels in all of those qualities.

The Forbes profile highlights that Robert served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Protection/Antitrust Division of the West Virginia Attorney General’s Office. In that role, he was focused on representing senior citizens who were the victims of consumer scams.

His work on behalf of West Virginia’s senior population helped them find restitution. More importantly, Robert’s frequent appearances on the local cable access television show “Legal Journal” helped inform viewers of the scams and likely prevented others from falling prey.

After joining the firm in 2013, Robert was appointed as a Special Assistant Attorney General to work on the groundbreaking litigation against the drug distributors who flooded West Virginia with opioids.

Over the years, Robert has been a fierce advocate for coal miners, veterans, doctors, lawyers, newspapers, small businesses, citizen groups, injured workers, and landowners.

He has successfully negotiated on behalf of his clients and obtained favorable results for the following fields of litigation:

When he’s not in a courtroom, Robert volunteers his time coaching his son’s basketball and baseball teams. He also serves as a State Delegate to the American Association of Justice and as a Board Member for the West Virginia Association of Justice.

We are proud of the accomplishments of Robert Bastress and congratulate him as he continues to work as fierce advocate for those in West Virginia.
